Soil and bedrock

Our vineyards (dűlő) are situated on volcanic dacite and rhyolite covered with loess.

The hill is covered by a loess layer of variable thickness and came here in the Pleistocene glacial period (sedimentary rock).

Loess is a light-coloured soil of fine grains with high porosity that contains lime and is rich in minerals.

Why does loess make the wines special?

We can probably thank the lime content of the soil for the beautiful fruitiness of our wines, their refined citrus acidity structure, elegance and minerality along with good ageing potential.

The porosity of loess ensures a permanent slight stress on the vines and makes the wine more concentrated.
